Twilight Epiphany – Skyspace Rice University

Part sculpture, part performance space, part lab for music students, the James Turrell designed Twilight Epiphany ‘Skyspace‘ installation at Rice University is totally worth checking out. The minimalist architectural structure sort of resembles a place of worship, a futurist nightclub, or even a UFO that has unexpectedly set down in the middle of a grassy field.

The structure comes alive with light shows twice a day – once 40 minutes prior to dawn (currently about 5:05 am to 5:45am) with the second starting around 8:45pm. The pavilion holds space for 120 people and you must reserve a space to view the evening light show in advance. Check out the website and reserve your free space here.
